The LEONOR GREYL story is one of passion, nature, and a deep love for beautiful hair.
It began in the 1960s, when Leonor, devoted to hair beauty and well-being, met Jean-Marie, an engineer enchanted by the power of plants. Together, they dreamed of creating treatments that would care for the hair as gently and effectively as nature itself.
In 1968, they opened the Leonor Greyl Institute in Paris, a serene haven where Jean-Marie began crafting botanical blends infused with the richness of natural oils and plant extracts. Each formula was designed like a ritual, tailored to awaken the scalp, revive the hair, and delight the senses.
From this unique union of science and natural beauty, the LEONOR GREYL brand was born, a pioneer in natural hair care, rooted in elegance, expertise, and emotion.

An innovative approach
Since its creation, Leonor Greyl has laid the foundations of a forward-thinking vision, with a strong conviction at the heart of its expertise: that beautiful hair begins with a healthy scalp.
This philosophy was born from Leonor’s observation of women arriving at her institute with severely irritated scalps, often the result of infrequent washing or harsh chemical treatments. Convinced that healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp, Leonor and Jean-Marie set out to create gentle, targeted formulas that would soothe the scalp while enhancing the beauty and vitality of the hair fiber.
This vision gave rise to the brand’s guiding principle: “Healthy, glamorous hair through the power of nature.”

Iconic care products
This innovative approach led to the creation of the brand’s first iconic products. The journey began in 1968 with the launch of Huile de Germe de Blé. It was soon followed by other legendary creations, including L'Huile de Leonor Greyl, Crème aux Fleurs, Shampooing Crème Moelle de Bambou, and Sérum de Soie Sublimateur. These products have earned a place of honor in the bathrooms of beauty journalists and influencers worldwide.


Heritage at the heart of the brand
Today, LEONOR GREYL remains a proudly family-run company, carrying on its legacy and savoir-faire with passion and dedication. In the 2000s, Caroline Greyl, daughter of founders Leonor and Jean-Marie, took over as President. Under her leadership, the brand has flourished, expanding into over 300 department stores and selective perfumeries, more than 450 salons, and reaching 50 countries worldwide.The brand’s signature tailor-made treatments, first introduced at the LEONOR GREYL Institute, are now offered in some of the world’s most prestigious spas, in France and beyond. Caroline continues to embody and represent the brand both nationally and internationally, alongside her husband, David Thomas Brooks, an American biologist and passionate botanist, with whom she shares the mission of preserving and advancing the family’s vision.
